Volunteer Requirements

To participate in our volunteer programs, you need to be 18 years or older, unless you are volunteering with a parent or guardian. All volunteers are required to have adequate volunteer travel insurance and provide a criminal background check upon arrival in Malawi.

Safaris and Tours

During your stay in Malawi, you will have the opportunity to go on sightseeing tours and safaris. You can explore the famous Malawian resorts and enjoy activities such as swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and sailing in Lake Malawi. We organize city day tours and long-weekend tours to ensure you have a memorable experience outside of your volunteer work.

Arrival and Airport Pickup

When you arrive in Malawi, a member of our local partner organization will meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation. We have two main airports in Malawi – Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe and Chileka International Airport in Blantyre. Please book your flights to either of these airports based on the location of your project.

Living in Malawi

As a volunteer in Malawi, you will have a unique experience living and working in the country. Depending on your project, you will be accommodated at our in-country coordinator’s home, a host family, or a volunteer house. The accommodations are clean, comfortable, and equipped with basic amenities. You will be provided with three meals a day, including local dishes made from fresh produce.

How to Apply

To apply for our volunteer programs in Malawi, fill out our online application form and submit it for consideration. Once your application is accepted, you will be required to pay 50% of the program fee within 14 days to confirm your placement. We recommend booking your flights to Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe or Chileka International Airport in Blantyre.
